First CRYPTO-BOX tests on Windows 8 successful

7 December 2011

Two months ago Microsoft revealed the next generation of Windows, along with a "developer preview" disclosing the secrets of Windows 8. Although still in pre-beta-status, the prospective outlook gives a good impression of the new features on the final version.
Some of the most prominent components include:
  • A broader hardware support (including ARM processors),
  • A new GUI interface called "Metro",
  • Faster startup,
  • An increased focus on cloud accessibility,
  • An improved touch-screen,
  • Support for Apps.
The release of Windows 8 is scheduled for early 2013.

To ensure a smooth transition for you and your end users, we have tested the current Protection Kit 5.70 on Windows 8 (64 bit version).

The following functions were tested:
  • Installation of the Protection Kit,
  • CRYPTO-BOX driver installation (CRYPTO-BOX SC and CRYPTO-BOX USB),
  • SmarxOS Application Framework (project preparation and handling),
  • MARX Analyzer,
  • Automatic protection (AutoCrypt) - local and network,
  • Smarx API examples - local and network,
  • WEB API,
  • Media Protection and Data Protection.
All tests performed were successful.

We will continue to update you on Windows 8 related topics.
